Antigua 1st full day

I had a great nights sleep. Well almost. It got a bit cool in the early morning and I was wishing I had an extra blanket.

After my regular wake up routine: having a cup of rooibos tea, checking the news and playing some mind wake up games on my tablet, I started to do some research to visit Lake Atitlan. There are several options, including the chicken bus. The problem is I want to do this a a day trip, so I focused on tours.

Online the full day tours were about $120 usd. I decided to check at the desk for their offerings. The have a full day tour, leaving at 5:30 in the morning and returning about 6:30 in the eveing for 500Q which is about $65 usd. After a google translated conversation, it appears that this includes everything I was looking for. Transportation there and back, breakfast, lunch, and boat tours to other villages on the lake. Sounded good to me, so I made my reservation.

Later I did another stroll around the city, first visiting the Iglesia de la Merced. dedicated in 1767. This church has a vibrant yellow exterior with white elements. The interior is typical for Mexico and Central America. The main altar at the front and the side walls lined with statues of saints with candles tables. Parishioners pray to the saints and light candles.
