Santiago 2 day 2
I am awake, having some rooibos tea (I always travel with my own tea) and updating my blog.
I have a couple options for today. First ride a bike aimlessly around the city. Later in the day, at 3 pm, they are having an activity at the wood museum I would like to go to. I also want to return to the Sanitario Cristo Pobre to get some better pictures.
I past another park on my way to the bike rack. You can click on any of the pictures to see a bigger one.
I rented a bike early today and rode a little. My first stop was the Sanitario. I didn't get any better pictures from the outside, but I did get into the gate on the side of the Sanitario. It looks like there are 6 - 2 story apartments. I didn't interupt anyone to ask any more.
From there I returned the bike to the rack and on my way into the park behind the Sanitario, I bought a torta. A sandwich on a roll. I think it was a chorizo type sausage, topped with my best guess was stew stomach. l didn't realize that when I bought it, otherwise I would have passed. Torta in hand, I found a bench to sit at the eat my torta. I would like to say I enjoyed it, but that would be a stretch. I ate about half, pushing some of the generous portion of stomach aside and focusing on eating the chorizo and roll.
After finishing (almost finishing) my torta, I went back to the bike rack to get another bike. I rode around the inside of the part, then out of one of the back gates.
There was a large church back there, but the interesting part was the religious grotto altar opposite the church. The grotto altar also had benches in front, so I expect they also did sermons in front of the grotto. Interesting.
I then made my way back to a bike rack close to the hostel. After returning the bike, I went back to the hostel to rest and digest my torta.
I took a short siesta, then got up to go back the Museo Taller. (A taller is a workshop). by the time I got there there were already some parents with there children there.
There were areas set up for kids to do simple weaving, blocks to build with and a simple roller print set up.
The kids were really focused on their projects, getting involved and having a great time.
The owner of the museum, Franciso, was there again. He recognized my from being there yesterday.I asked him if I could take his picture. He agreed with a smile.
I hung around for awhile. On my way out I was recruited to crank the music box for a while. Cranking just for a few minutes, I could see why the lady would want to pass the chore on occasionally.
On my way back to the hostel, I stopped by the grocery store for a few provisions, including a $3 usd bottle of Merlot wine.
Tonight I will again be cooking more of my chicken. I bought a lemon, so tonight it will be lemon chicken with noodles and calabasa squash.

Loving your take care of Doug while on the road comments! So important! Love, Becky
