Santiago to Valparaiso
Today is pack and get ready to go day. I scheduled my bus for 11:45 so I'll have plenty of time to pack, eat breakfast and make my way to the bus station.
I arrived a the station early. So, nothing left to do, but sit and wait.
I'm now on the bus passing through mountains, tunnels and vineyards on the way to Valparaiso. Chile produces some really fine wines.
I got to the hostel. Another 30 or so steps from the road up to the hostel. My legs are crying out to give them a break. The hostel in the blue building at the center of this picture.
I got check in. This is the first place that has people stacked up 3 high instead of the usual 2. Oh well, it's only for a couplel nights.
I struck up a conversation with a couple people sitting at the outside picnic table. Before talking to them, I was thinking I was going to stuck on the hill for the whole of 2 days. But then, the guy says that is a venicular over there. Great maybe I won't be trapped for 2 days. The girl then gave me a masp showing all the highlights of Valparaiso.
After stowing my thing, I headed off to the venicular. down the 30 or so steps to get to the road, then another 70 steps up to the venicular. Believe me this is a much easier way than walking down to the city central. You only pay at the bottom to come back up the hill, about 50 cents. The ride down is included.
I stolled around the park, but what really wanted to find was a baño (toilet). The hotdogs last night were giving my system a bit of a challenge.
I didn't find a baño so I did the next best thing. I found a rather unique burger joint. I would order a burger and use the toilet there.
The burger was pretty good. I got a draft beer to help it down.
When I went down the hill it the temperature was pretty nice, not to hot, not to cool, just right. As I finished my burger though, the temperature was starting to drop and knew it was time to head back up the hill.
It was about time to enjoy a siesta and give my legs a break.
Tomorrow, with fully rested legs, I have more time to explore the city.

Such an exciting trip! Love, Becky
