Iguazu Falls day 1

I was surprized that I was a bit chilly last night. Then waking up this morning, I saw someone had turned on the A/C.  It wasn't too warm, so I didn't really understand why it was turned on.

Breakfast of cereal, yogurt, toast and coffee is included in the room. It was ready by 7:30 so I enjoyed a casual breakfast.

I sent a request to booking.com to delay by arrival in Sao Paolo by 1 day and extend an extra day here at the falls.

I will visit the Argentine side of the falls today and plan to visit the Brazilan side of the falls tomorrow.

Some time later....

I went to the bus station to get my ticket to the falls. I thought I was clear about going to the Argentine side of the falls, but in reality, I had a ticket to go the Brazilian side. Not a problem. I will go to the Brazilian side of the falls today. I can go to the Argentine side tomorrow.

The bus ride is about 25 minutes, in which time we have to go through immigration.

On arrival at the park, another ticket is needed for the shuttle bus in the park to any number of viewing points for the falls. Just like Niagra, you can also take a river boat to get up close and personal with the falls. I did not do that.

I can see that the view from the Brazilian side if better. The view points are on the opposite side of the falls, so you have a full view of the fallls. On the Argintine side, there are walkways on top of the falls, but I am not sure you can see the full "fall" of the falls. Maybe I will find that answer to that tomorrow.

Today was a beautiful clear day and not too hot for walking. The walkways are all paved. There were a lot of people, but not enough to distract from the experience of being at the falls.

Equazu Falls is one of the top 5 or so rated falls in the world. I have previously been to Niagra Falls and Victoria Falls on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, so the is the third falls of the top 5 that I have visited.

As in Argentina, the area surrounding the falls in national forest area. The rain forest parks boasts a population of over 2000 species of plants, 400 species of birds, and about 80 mammal, as well as countless butterflies. The butterflies were everywhere including on people. Among the mammals there are: giant ant eaters, eagles, jaguar, puma, ocelot. Most of the animals are nocturnal, so it would be unusual to see them during the day.

After walking a few paths along the falls and river I headed back across the border and to my accomodations in the mid afternood. I picked up some food on the way.

Just woke from my late afternoon siesta.

This afternoon, we are having a nice rain forest rain. I am watching it from the comfort of my hostel.
