Sau Paulo day 4

 I woke up to a beautiful day in Sao Paulo. I had a leisure morning reading, eating breakfast and catching up on the days news before heading out for the day.

I have a zoom meeting at 2pm. That still give me plenty of time to explore this morning and early afternoon. 

My first stop was to pick up a rental bike. I didn't have a fixed destination in mind, but did want to locate the park were I saw them setting up for a concert and locate the Teatro Municipal de Sāo Paulo. I zig zagged walking and biking in the general direction of both. 


I look at my phone a lot to keep me on course. The last time looking at my phone, I am thinking I am getting close. I pull my eyes off my phone, look up and there it is. Magnificent. Unfortunate for my, there are no tours today, so I will probably return tomorrow to do a tour.

Sometimes I have tunnel vision. I had been to the concert location before, but didn't notice that the Teatro was right there to.


From the teatro. I strolled through  park featuring several grand bronze statues and a large founstain. There was a crew there repainting the bottom of the fountain so I was not working while I was there. 

I continued downhill to see if I could get more information about the concert that they were setting up for. The setup for this event is huge. By the time it is ready, the crews will have been working to set up the stage, other sound towers and lighting for a full week.

I did find out the concert will be on Saturday. I wasn't sure if the security guard said it would also be on Sunday or not.


There is always another church to check out. This one was a smaller chuch I passed while walking.


There is graffiti everywhere, including multi story buildings. I am amazed at the energy tagger put into making their marks. This is not a single building. I have seen several even less accessible. Maybe the have a spiderman on their team.

It was now time for me to head back to the hostel for my meeting. A combination of biking and walking got me back to the hostel. When I got back, I still had time to cook my lunch and dinner before my meeting.

After my zoom meeting, Siesta, but just a short one.

I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening trying to lock in more dates and stays coming up.

I am booked into this hostel until the 18th. My flight leaves on the 21st, very early in the moring. I decided to move for 2 days to a locationin a different part of the city, the 1 day to a location very close to the airport to make it easier to get there for my early morning flight.

Today cleared up nicely and the tempurature is a bit warmer. It may be short lived. Tomorrow should be comfortable, but Wednesday will start to cool down again. Up until this morning I was planning to take a bus to Iguazu Falls on the border between Argentina and Brazil. Then a fellow traveler pointed out a flightto Iguazu for less than the bus fare. I had to chose between and 17 hour bus ride or less than 2 hour flight. I didn't have to think very long. I going to fly on Thursday. After breakfast and having a leisure morning. I headed out for my first planned excursion for the day, the Palacio de Agua Corrienientes (the Water Palace). Aptly named. The place look like a palace on the outside and much of the interior to, but it served a vital function in the city of Buenos Aires, it was the main water distribution center and waste water facility. Mexico City day 1

Out very early this morning, 7 am. Hardly any traffic or people out this time of day. Especially being a Sunday and Easter. I signed up for eBici. This is a bike rental program in mexico City. There are racks everywhere.  Limited to 45 minutes, but I can trade out bikes as many times as I want. The pass I got is for 3 days, comes out to about $6 US per day. Just after I picked up my first bike I found a street side breakfast shop open. So, I am now enjoying Cornflakes with banana and milk. Getting out of business area and closer to Chapultepec Park, there lots of people out jogging, walking and biking. There are lots of bike lanes, so far I been using bike lanes exclusively.  I spent a good amount time riding in Chapultepec. Lots of vendor kiosks. I found one selling sunglasses. I have a pair, but it is all plastic. Guaranteed they will break when I won't find a shop anywhere selling them. I bought a pair for $7 usd that have metal frames. Bogota to San Francisco

Good Morning! Major travel day today! I had to wake up early to meet my Uber to the airport scheduled for 5 am. So the people that came back from night of drinking at close to 4 am didn't wake me up, much. Even so, I reprimanded them for talking so loud, most the others in the hostel were still trying to sleep. The Uber was right on time and I got to the airport in plenty of time for my 7:50 flight to Mexico City.  I would like to say my flight was nice, but that would be a lie. Volaris being a budget carrier, the seats don't recline, and I had a middle seat between a large man and a smaller lady with a huge coat. Because of my baggage restrictions, I was layered. 2 pairs of slacks, 2 shirts and my hoody. This hasn't been a problem because for most flights they keep the cabin temperature relatively cool.
