Iquitos 2 day 1 and depart to Leticia

From the a wall here at Flying Dog.
I went to bed early. It was still pretty warm and the mosquitos were active in the hostel. After putting on long trousers and making sure I was completely covered with a sheet, I went to sleep.

I am up early again. I have a few days of journaling from the boat from Yurimaguas that I have catch up on. It sure is nice having a new keyboard that works.

Breakfast will be served shortly. (I love staying at hostels that include breakfast as part of the daily rates.)

I will not finish my backlog of writing, but I am making good progress.

My boat to Leticia, Colombia, The Loreta, will not leave until this evening. I will arrive at port early to board. I will have time to continue on my journaling backlog at that time.

I packed up and left the  Flying Dog Hostel at the  scheduled 11 am check out time.

The boat to Santa Rosa, the adjacent Peruvian town  to Leticia, Colombia (and Tabitinga, Brazil) doesn't leave until 7 so I have a lot of down time.

There weren't that many people on board yet, so I was able to select what I thought would be a good spot. This boat the Loreta, has  2 passenger decks, I selected the lower deck to avoid the radiated heat off the roof. There is  also an electrical outlet nearby.

I didn't buy any fruit or food to bring on board. There are many vendors  wandering the deck selling everything from hammock, to cell phone chargers and batteries, pack lunches, fruit, toilet paper, water and other  cool drinks. Once I hung my hammock everything I needed came to me so I didn't have to leave  the boat.

I have now been on the boat for close to 4 hours. My space that I selected, had no one around me. That is not the case now. Hammock  are hung on both sides of me so close that if they swing, they will bump my hammock.

I have used some of the  time on board  to wash  cloths and hang them by my hammock. My hanging  laundry is also a feature of the picture on the right. lol. I did pull my feet back a little so you have to look at them.

Here is another picture  to see  how  crowded it  is getting. I  am getting so  lazy, instead of getting up from my  hammock,  I just take pictures while reclining in the hammock.

I turned to my side to take a picture  of all  the nearby  hammocks and found I had an observer watching my type. BTW he is still by my side watching as I type.

The music has started, not  blasting, but not soft either. I expect that will continue until 10 pm or later.
