Iquitos to Leticia day 1

We left Iquitos last night at around 8pm. We only made 2 very brief stops over night.

The trip so far has been uneventful. It was cool and windy all night, but not so much to make in uncomfortable. With my hoody on, long trousers and sock, I was mostly warm.

I woke up early enough to see the beautiful sunrise. I never really fall into a deep sleep, so getting up early, comes pretty naturally.

As you can see in this picture no the left, the front deck is really loaded to the max. Everything is stacked up includind the tuk-tuks that were lifted and placed on plasic barrls and other items. The only things without things piled up on them are a bunch of small trees. You can't see them in the picture, they out of shot in front of the crates.

This morning we arrived at Pebas about 6 am. It looks like this is a sizable community. Lots of people were on the pier waiter for this boats arrival, About half workers to retrieve cargo off the boat and the other half, people intending to board.

The walkways on deck are really restricted by all the cargo on the deck. Let me clarify, there are no walkways. The stacked plank you see in this picture is that walkway on this boat. It is always a balancing act getting on and off the boat.

This is one of only a handful of stops we make that actually have a pier. Most of our stops are just made with the boat nosed into the shore.
