Yurimaguas day 1

I didn't get any quality sleep last night.

Only about an hour at time. I was just waiting for sunrise to figure out what will be happening for the day.

Around 6 am, I decided to head ashore. To do this I had to climb up a gang plank to the adjacent boat, climb over that boat's railing, go down the stairs and off the gang plank from the boat to shore.

There were already a small herd of cows on board getting ready for a journey somewhere. Probably their last journey.

On shore I asked about the next boat going back to Iquitos, it is the cow boat. It will leave tomorrow afternoon.

Back on that boat, I asked if I could move my stuff to the boat and hang my hammock today. That was not a problem. I could even spend the day and night on the boat in my hammock. I said thanks, but no thanks. I was going to sleep in a bed not only tonight, but an extended nap today. (I had already made a reservation that I mentioned in last nights post.)

Once I moved my stuff from the first boat to the new boat, I went back on shore to catch a tuk-tuk to my accomodations. I left my hammock and a few other items on the boat, anything of valu, I took with me.

I didn't plan to get to my stay for the day, the Albina, as early as I did. It was only 6:30 am.

The host welcomed me and was not put off by the early hour. He showed me my room, a private room with bath and a comfortable bed. I quickly paid for my room. He said to pay for only 1 day, but I insisted that I pay for 2 days. The day today to nap and shower and tonight.

Then a refreshing shower (the first of many) and I hit the sack for a much needed nap. It was to early for a siesta, that would happen later in the day.

The Albina is in a combination residential/commercial area.

The major soccer stadium is just 2 block down the road.
