Yurimaguas day 2
The title for this post was intended to be: Yurimaguas to Iquitos day 1.
But alas, that didn't happen.
I woke up early as usual, Took my first shower of the day, packed my backpack. I used some extra time this morning to update postings on this blog. Around the scheduled checkout time, I left the hostel and hailed a tuk-tuk to take me to the port.
I arrived at the port and immediately noticed that the cows were not longer there. I thought maybe they unloaded them. I then boarded the Eduardo I boats that was in port. I soon realized this boat was not the one that I had left my hammock and a few items on yesterday morning. I got off that boat and boarded the Eduardo II. That also was not the boat. I then started asking were my boat that I was told would leave this afternoon was. That's when I learned that was the Eduardoo VII and it left last night instead. Just great. They told me there were no boats leaving today. The next one will be tomorrow morning. I learned from my experience today, that is not guaranteed and did not leave any of my belongings behind.
So what was supposed to be a departure day, turned into a shopping day for my stuff that left without me. I needed to buy another hammock, another tupper ware container for food, a spoon to eat with. The biggest lose was my favorite hoody that I bought in South Africa.
I first took all my stuff back to the hostel and extended my stay another day and dropped off my stuff.
I then took a tuk-tuk to Central Market to do shopping. While at Central Market, I took time to get a bit to eat. I got a mixed plate of ceviche and seafood fried rice. It was very good, but too much food to eat at one sitting. I brought the fried rice back to the hostel to eat later this evening.
When I got back, it was siesta time.
After waking up, I knew that I still had to go back into town. I still needed to buy a sweatshirt, a spoon and toilet paper.
I was talking to the guy staying in the next room. He offered to take me on his motorcycle to finish up my shopping. That was a bonus. He is from Yurimagaus and knew all the shops to check out. Not a simple task finding and XL jacket or hoody. But, I did find one I liked. Only 65 soles, less than $18 usd. I also picked up a new razor and toilet paper. The only things left to buy tomorrow morning are snacks and fruit for the trip and a spoon.

So sorry to hear this. Do you think you would be able to find your stuff if you catch up with the other boat? Cathy
