Bogota to San Francisco

Good Morning!

Major travel day today!

I had to wake up early to meet my Uber to the airport scheduled for 5 am. So the people that came back from night of drinking at close to 4 am didn't wake me up, much. Even so, I reprimanded them for talking so loud, most the others in the hostel were still trying to sleep.

The Uber was right on time and I got to the airport in plenty of time for my 7:50 flight to Mexico City.

I would like to say my flight was nice, but that would be a lie. Volaris being a budget carrier, the seats don't recline, and I had a middle seat between a large man and a smaller lady with a huge coat. Because of my baggage restrictions, I was layered. 2 pairs of slacks, 2 shirts and my hoody. This hasn't been a problem because for most flights they keep the cabin temperature relatively cool. Not on this one. The cabin was toasty for the whole trip and I was so squished in, I couldn't take off my hoody. They didn't finally crank up the air conditioning about 10 minutes before we landed. Thanks guys. A little late.

After about a 5 hour flight we arrived in Mexico City where I had a 5 hour layover. That gave me a chance to get a bit to eat (a Carl's Jr. combo meal) and freshen up.

I learned from the earlier flight to carry my hoody. Unlike the first hot flight, this flight was much cooler and I ended up putting my hoody back on.

I was more than ready when they announced the start of our decent into Oakland. 10 hours in a plan was way too much sitting in non reclining seats.

I cleared immigration quickly in Oakland and boarded a Bart train into San Fransisco. In the city I had to transfer to a Muni that dropped me off less than 2 blocks from my friends travelers studio apartment.

After a quick shower, I hit the sack. I think I was sleeping before my head hit the pillow.

This is about the end of my posting for this trip. I will let you know when and if I start posting about my life in Oaxaca and other short trips exploring my towns and areas in Mexico.

Thanks so much for reading and following me on the adventure. Muchas Gracias.

The only thing left for me to do know is to go back and read all my posts and fix the phrasing, correct spelling, typos and grammer.

One last little addition.

This is the next morning, July 16. I came to a small cafe around the corner from where I am staying. Sticker Shock! I ordered one of the cheaper items on the menu with an orange juice. $25.00 usd. Welcome to the USA. I have to say though, it was delicious. The reason only half the plate is showing is that I had already eaten the bottom half before taking a picture
