Medellin day 9

Today the city will be back to the normal busy.

I may get another bike today, but my main destination today will be the Modern Art Museum.

I've been giving more thought on when to leave Medellin, but the place I am staying is so comfortable and reasonable.

After breakfast I talked to another traveler that is taking a bus to Honda and a midpoint on the way to Bogota. I checked it out and it looks like an interesting stop. So an exit plan has  evolved.

I will take a bus from Medellin on Thursday to Honda. A little over half way to Bogota. Stay for 4 days. Then bus to Bogota for a few days. I will then be monitoring flights to Mexico City. The onto Oakland, Ca. Depending on flights available. Return to Mexico City end if July. Bus to Oaxaca about Aug 1.

I  found a place to stay in Honda and booked a few days stay there.

The plan in place. I headed out for the day. One of the destinations, the bus station to buy a ticket.

This is in the same direction as the K cable car line, that had the accident some days ago. I rode the train to that station first to see in the cable car was back in service. It is not. I then backtracked to the station connection to the north bus station buy my ticket to Honda (pronounced "onda" the H is silent) for Thursday.

Returning to the city center, I got off at the Berrio station.  I knew I could pick up a bike there.

This was my test ride on a week day.  I followed the bike path all the way to Modern Art Museum. The bike station is only about a block from the Museum.

The  picture is me on the bike on the way to the Museum. If I had my selfie stick with me, you would be able to see the bike. This was the best I could do with outstretched arm.

Unfortunately, maybe because yesterday was a holiday,  the Museum was closed. Now I have a plan for tomorrow, go to the museum.

I got another bike for the ride back to Berrio Park to drop the bike. Here I found a vendor selling "salpicon". I was ready for some fruit, so I bought one. This one  had watermelon, papaya,  mango and strawberries. 3,000 pesos, about $.75 usd. Such a deal.

As with every other day, I notice the large group of men standing around. I've changed my mind about why they are there. I think this is just the established place for men to get together to talk and gossip. The selling of watches and jewelry,  secondary.

I hung around the park for awhile just people watching before heading back to the hostel.

It started sprinkling and I decided that was a good time to head back to the hostel. Luckily for me, I bought an umbrella earlier in my stay in Medellin. I was only a few minutes into my walk that I  needed to get it out. Even with the umbrella my shoes and lower trousers were soaked by the time I got back.

Much later, after my daily siesta, I went out to get dinner. I found a place only a couple blocks away I decided to try. I had flattened chicken fillet with a side of cole slaw, french fries and a quail egg.

I have seen quail eggs for sale in stores and as part of the restaurant menu in every country I have visited in South America.

After dinner,  back to hostel for the evening
