T-3 Days to departure

Anticipation is building.

I am pretty busy at the Oaxaca Lending Library during event season that spans from Dia de Muertos in late October to early March. I lead the team that provides A/V support and video taping for the many Terrace Talks during that time. This year, I am taking off a little early. I finished my last event on Friday afternoon and have been training others to take the lead during my absence.

I completed my last Terrace Talk obligation at the library on Friday. I'm free, free at last.

For my last multi-month adventure in Central and South America because of flight
restrictions, I was limited to a single personal item for the whole trip. This required taking a bare minimum selection of cloths (light weight, fast dry) and gadgets (tablet and phone). Washing cloths almost every time in the shower while taking a shower

This time, I am allowed not only a personal item, but also a carry-on and checked bag. I'm going to take them all. I can always leave pieces behind if it gets to be too much.

I went on a 6 month trip to South East Asia 1989. I left luggage sometimes in 3 different cities while doing side trips and collected it later.

I have all my bags layed out now and starting to sort cloths and gadgets and decide what to pack in each one. The person item and carry on will mostly have stuff that I will need during flights (ie: snacks, noise cancelling earbuds on the top of the list.) and other things I don't trust to pack in the checked bag.

Lots of micellaneous chores still to do, like clean out my frig and charge all my devices in preparation for departure.

I will leave little to be done on Wednesday morning. Besides turning off my gas and water, packing up my new unwelcome guest, my CPAP machine, I will only need to pick up my bags, turn off the lights, walk out the door, lock up and head out to the street to catch a taxi to the airport.
