Quy Nhon to Nha Trang

 Travel day today via train to Nha Trang. 

My train is not until 12:40 so I have plenty of time to relax, find a place to eat, shower and pack

My bags are a mess, I am trying to sort things better. My small bag, computer and other gadgets, my medium bag mostly cloths and the larger bag, stuff I don't need at every stop. If I can stick to this plan it will help me stay organized and not lose stuff.


I walked a bit in the morning and had pho for breakfast. 

Before long it was time to catch a Grab taxi to the train station. 

Each of the trains I have taken, I have booked a 2nd class soft seat. There are also soft and hard bed sleepers and 3rd class hard seat tickets available. 

All the trains I have taked have had a very basic dining car with hard seats. Other than the one meal per trip that they cook on the train and serve about 1 1/2 hours before arriving, there are mostly only snack type things available and of course beer.

I arrived in Nha Trang before 6 pm and arranged another Grab taxi to my new digs for the next 3 days.

I have too much baggage to use a Grab motorbike, otherwise I would use them. They are 1/3 the price of a car.


When I got to my new place, no one was here. I was able to use WhatsApp to call them. They arrived after about 5 minutes to check me in.

This place is luxury compared to some places I have stayed at, and a private room on top of that.


The room is very fanciful. Every thing is cute animal themed. Even the power block is cat themed with eyes and ears.

I got checked in, took a quick shower and decided to walk down to the beach. I couldn't see much because it was now after dark.

I will explore more tomorrow morning.

Today cleared up nicely and the tempurature is a bit warmer. It may be short lived. Tomorrow should be comfortable, but Wednesday will start to cool down again. Up until this morning I was planning to take a bus to Iguazu Falls on the border between Argentina and Brazil. Then a fellow traveler pointed out a flightto Iguazu for less than the bus fare. I had to chose between and 17 hour bus ride or less than 2 hour flight. I didn't have to think very long. I going to fly on Thursday. After breakfast and having a leisure morning. Bogota to San Francisco

Good Morning! Major travel day today! I had to wake up early to meet my Uber to the airport scheduled for 5 am. So the people that came back from night of drinking at close to 4 am didn't wake me up, much. Even so, I reprimanded them for talking so loud, most the others in the hostel were still trying to sleep. The Uber was right on time and I got to the airport in plenty of time for my 7:50 flight to Mexico City.  I would like to say my flight was nice, but that would be a lie. Volaris being a budget carrier, the seats don't recline, and I had a middle seat between a large man and a smaller lady with a huge coat. Because of my baggage restrictions, I was layered. 2 pairs of slacks, 2 shirts and my hoody. This hasn't been a problem because for most flights they keep the cabin temperature relatively cool. Ha Long Bay Days 1 & 2

I took a morning bus from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay yesterday. I booked the tour from the place I am staying. This way, the bus picks my up and drops me off close to where I stay. This avoids searching for the bus depot and getting lost along the way. The ride to Ha Long Bay was a little over 3 hours in a nice comfortable tour bus. We made our way out of the citie and into less densely populated areas. Passing so many rice fields as well as occasional vegetable gardens. We did make a rest stop about half way to Ha Long Bay. The rest stop was partially staffed with disabled individuals. Very large store with lots of tourist items, food, snacks and handicrafts for sale. I took the opportunity to enjoy my first Vietnamese iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk. Delicious. There were several crafters knitting intricate artworks. Fastinating.
